FRAGMENTS OF AN INTERNAL LANDSCAPE: STUDIES AND MAKINGS presents an ongoing collection of studies in the form of drawings and small-scale sculptures which are manifestations of insights and emotions from moments in time. Delivered as an evolving installation, the exhibition explores the subject of mental health as an ever-changing landscape of the internal self. The works are personal documentations of an ongoing ritual practice contemplating the darkness and light: often incoherent sentiments of the world within.

MARI HIRATA is a visual artist and silversmith currently based in Brisbane. Working predominantly with photography, sculpture, installation, and metalsmithing, her works range from large installations to miniature objects that consider our sense of space, time, and memory. A Master of Arts in Visual Arts graduate from Queensland College of Art, Mari has exhibited throughout Australia and overseas with works housed in private and public collections including the National Gallery of Australia, HOTA, and the University of Technology Sydney.
